Neurotoxin Injections

  • Do not consume alcoholic beverages at least 24 hours prior to treatment (alcohol may thin the blood and increase the risk of bruising).

    Avoid anti-inflammatory/blood thinning medications, if possible for a period of 2 weeks before treatment. Medications and supplements such as aspirin, vitamin E, ginkgo biloba, ginseng, St. John’s Wort, Omega 3/Fish Oil supplements, Ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil, Aleve and other NSAIDS have a blood thinning effect and can increase the risk of bruising and swelling after injections.

    Do not stop any prescription medications without physician approval.

    Schedule your appointment at least 2 weeks prior to a special event which you may be attending, such as a wedding or a vacation. Results from the injections will take approximately 4 to 7 days to appear. Also bruising and swelling may be apparent in that time period.

    Reschedule your appointment at least 24 hours in advance if you have a rash, cold sore or blemish on the area.

    Be sure to have a good breakfast, including food and drink before your procedure. This will decrease the chances of lightheadedness during your treatment.

    You may take arnica tablets to minimize the risk of bruising. Fresh pineapple is an alternative to Arnica. Pineapple contains an enzyme, BROMELIAN, that helps to minimize bruising and recovery time should you bruise.

    You are not a candidate for treatment if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have been on certain antibiotics (aminoglycosides) or have a history of any illness that has caused muscle weakness (myasthenia gravis, ALS, Eaton-Lambert, Guillain-Barre Syndrome) or are allergic to human albumin or Botox.

    If you have received any immunizations/vaccinations, please wait one month before having your Botox treatment.

    Botox should be the only treatment you have that day or the last treatment you have that day. You must NOT lie down for a minimum of 4 hours post treatment.

  • Please do not schedule any hair, chiropractic/doctor/dental appointments after treatment or any treatments on the face i.e.-threading, waxing, facials etc. for a min 4 hours post treatment-It can take approximately 4 to 14 days for final results. Regular Botox users will see results in as little as 2-3 days. New users will notice effect at 3-5 days with a peak effect at 7-10 days then final results at 14 days.

    Post treatment, for the next 4 hours do not:

    Bend forward (squat instead).

    Lay down.

    Shower.

    Work out (no strenuous activity for 24 hours).

    Wash your face.

    Pull anything over your head (e.g. a hoodie).

    Wear a hat or headband around the forehead.

    Apply makeup.

    Should you have any questions after your treatment, please contact us. We are always available to answer your questions or to book an appointment to see you, however, we will not inject further product until after 14 days from initial treatment.


Dermal Fillers

    Please inform your provider if you have an allergy to LIDOCAINE.

    You must not have had any dental procedures-including cleaning-for one month prior to treatment.

    You must not have any upper respiratory infections-colds, sinusitis, etc.-You must not have any active skin infections on your face, urinary tract or bladder infections or any other active systemic infections.

  • Expect tenderness, itching, swelling and potential bruising to the injected area(s). If you have serious pain, contact the nurse immediately. Swelling can be temporarily asymmetrical, this is normal.

    Results will take approximately 1-2 months to fully develop.

    Avoid significant movement or massage of the treated area.

    No massage, chiropractic treatment or facial treatments for min 2 weeks post treatment.

    No dental appointments for a min of one month after treatment.

    Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours.

    Avoid sun exposure.

    Avoid consuming alcohol or foods high in sodium.

    Avoid the use of heavy facial creams and eye creams for at least 72 hours post treatment.

    Avoid the use of make up for minimum 24 hours post treatment.

    Avoid Advil and blood thinners the night-of.

    Avoid smoking.

    Avoid straws after lip injections.

    Use Tylenol for discomfort.

    Avoid sleeping on your face. Consider purchasing an EnVy pillow to support your face and minimize pressure points on the treatment areas. You can purchase the EnVy pillow at the Clinic.

    There is Lidocaine in the dermal fillers. Avoid hot beverages until the numbing resolves.

    Please contact the office with any concerns post treatment.

    You will have some swelling post and temporary asymmetry is normal.

    It may take up to one month for the filler to integrate in to your tissue

    If you develop any inflammation accompanied by fever, tenderness, or drainage, any discolouration of the areas treated (other than a possible bruise) You must contact the office immediately or the off hours cell number


PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma)

  • Wash your hair as you normally would with regular shampoo, but do not use conditioner.

    Avoid the application of sprays, gel or any styling products to your hair or scalp.

    Please have breakfast/lunch as usual and try to drink at least 16 ounces of water at least 2-3 hours before your treatment.

    Stop all retinoids 7 days prior to procedure.

    Stop taking any supplements/medications that thin your blood-essential fatty acids, ginko biloba, St John’s Wort, ASA, ibuprofen.

    Please consult with your physician about stopping any prescribed medications.

    You must not have a sunburn.

    Please arrive with freshly cleansed skin-no makeup.

    If you have open acneic lesions, please consult with your provider prior to treatment.

    You must not have any active coldsores-they MUST be healed completely.

    Hydrate well.

    Avoid alcohol minimum of 3 days prior to treatment.

  • Avoid the sun to your face and scalp for 72 hours after your treatment.

    Use a clean pillowcase the night after your treatment.

    Avoid blood thinners such as alcohol and NSAIDS the night after your treatment. You can take Tylenol.

    Avoid smoking.

    Results take two to three weeks to show and most individuals require three to four sessions for optimal, long-lasting results.

    Do not wash treated area until the day following treatment.

    Do not apply any retinoids for 7 days post treatment.

    Avoid exfoliating for a min 5 days post treatment.

    Do not apply makeup for min 24 hours post treatment.

    Apply sunscreen minimum SPF 30 liberally when exposed and avoid sun exposure if possible.

    If you are prone to cold sores, you may require treatment with an anti-viral.

    For 24 to 48 hours, we advise that you sleep on your back only, with your head somewhat elevated. This helps to lessen swelling and bruising.

    You may experience some bruising, which is normal. Bruising should disappear in a few days.

    You may experience an itchy sensation and dryness of the treated area. 

    For up to 72 hours, you may experience mild discomfort and swelling. Over-the-counter pain medications can treat this, but do not take aspirin because it thins the blood, which can cause complications.

    You may apply cool compresses to the skin for comfort.


Chemical Peel

  • Use a physical sunscreen with at least an SPF 30+ every day rain or shine for at least three weeks prior to the chemical peel.

    Stop the use of any benzoyl peroxide product or any other product that can cause dryness, redness or irritation three days prior to the chemical peel.

    No facial waxing 1 week prior to chemical peel

    No filler 1 week prior to chemical peel

    No IPL or Laser Hair Removal 2 weeks prior to chemical peel

  • Wash your face with cool water. Warm or hot water might not feel as good as cool or cold water, which can help soothe post-peel sensations.

    Moisturize and hydrate.

    Apply sunscreen with SPF30 or more.

    Avoid strenuous workouts, dry saunas and steam rooms.

    Don't over-exfoliate

    Do not engage in strenuous exercise for 2-3 days after treatment because it may exacerbate the inflammatory and can cause your skin to become extremely inflamed.


Laser/BBL Treatments

  • Prior to ANY LASER/LIGHT procedure, patients should be on a course of medical grade skincare to pre-treat and optimize skin health.  This will allow for a better treatment, faster recovery and will optimize results.  

    Healthy skin responds better to treatment:

    Arrive one hour prior to your treatment for application of topical numbing cream. Inform your Provider of any cardiac, pulmonary, vascular conditions and allergies prior to treatment.

    You cannot have any sun exposure for a minimum of 6 weeks prior to your procedure.  

    You must not have any pigment applied to the skin ie-spray tan or products that stimulate pigment production.

    You must not have any cold sores or fever blisters on the face.  Any lesions MUST be completely healed with fresh skin.  If you are prone to cold sores, you should take an anti-viral medication prior to treatment.

    Stop all RETINOIDS one week prior to treatment.

    You must not have had any chemical peels, LASER hair reduction treatments on your face or electrolysis 6 weeks prior to your procedure.

    If you have been on ANTIBIOTICS please consult with your Provider.  Antibiotics make skin more “photo-sensitive” and you should be off them for a period of time prior to your procedure.

    If you have been on ACCUTANE, you must wait a minimum of 6 months before having any LASER or LIGHT TREATMENTS.

    You can NOT be PREGNANT or NURSING.

  • Redness and swelling are normal and expected and may persist for up to 7 days post treatment.

    Pinpoint bleeding may occur and last up to 72 hours.

    You may use cool compresses to relieve any discomfort.

    You may take acetaminophen for discomfort.

    If you are prone to Herpes Simplex Virus or Fever Blisters you should be prescribed and anti-viral to minimize the risk of developing a cold sore post procedure.

    Cleanse your skin twice daily-am and pm- with the post procedure products suggested by your provider.

    Apply a water based light moisturizer liberally to the skin through-out the day.

    Application of SPF min 30 is a MUST post procedure if you are outside. Reapply EVERY 2 hours. Failure to do so may result in blistering, infection, scaring, hyper/hypopigmentation which may be permanent.

    Sun exposure should be avoided for 3 months post procedure.

    You will experience peri-orbital (around the eyes) swelling the next day. Hydrate and mobilize to encourage the excess fluids to flush from your system.

    No exercise for a minimum or 3 days post treatment.

    No hot tubs, jacuzzi, sauna, whirlpool bath for a minimum or 3 days post treatment.

    No alcohol for a minimum 3 days post treatment.

    Your skin will take on a “bronzed” look and feel like “sandpaper”. This is called “MEND’s”-Microscopic Epithelial Necrotic Debris”. This is microscopic wounding and is part of the healing process as your skin purges the damaged tissue. The damaged tissue will be replaced with healthy new tissue.

    DO NOT pick your skin or aggressively exfoliate the MEND’s. Doing so may lead to infection, scarring and other complications. Allow the skin to flake and peel on it’s own. This process may take 3-7 days

    You may restart your normal skin care routine 5-7 days after. treatment. Your skin may still be sensitive-exfoliating and retinol products may not be tolerated for up to 3 weeks post procedure.

    Avoid getting shampoo and conditioner on your skin.

    After the MEND’s have resolved, your skin will have a rosy pink glow that will gradually resolve.

    Results will be seen up to 6 months post treatment.


Belkyra

  • Do NOT consume alcoholic beverages at least 24 hours prior to treatment (alcohol may thin the blood and increase the risk of bruising).

    Do NOT use the following products 5 days prior or 5 days after your treatment (or until pinkness has subsided): Retin-A, retinoids, or similar vitamin A compounds, harsh scrubs or exfoliating products and bleaching creams (unless instructed otherwise by your provider).

    Gentlemen should shave the treatment area one day prior to treatment (unless instructed otherwise by your provider).

    Do not apply any creams, lotions, perfume or makeup etc. on the area to be treated, prior to treatment.

    Eat prior to your treatment. This will decrease the risk of light-headedness.

    Schedule your treatment at least 4 weeks prior to a special event.

    Reschedule your appointment at if you have a rash, cold sore on the treatment area.

    Consider taking Arnica tablets 3 days prior to injections to prevent bruising Alternatively, eat fresh pineapple as it contains the same enzyme-BROMELAIN

  • Apply sunscreen when exposed and re-apply every 2 hours.

    Do not pick, rub or scratch any scab or dry skin that may appear.This may cause unwanted side effects such as darkening of skin and/or scarring.

    Avoid extreme temperatures for 72 hours post treatment (i.e. jacuzzi, sauna, whirlpool, hot showers and baths).

    Do not consume alcohol and limit foods high in sodium for 72 hours to avoid excessive swelling.

    Avoid strenuous exercise for 72 hours.

    Sleep on your back with your head elevated.

    What to Expect:

    You will experience swelling and bruising post treatment and will improve over a the next few weeks after treatment.

    If you have swelling you may apply cool compresses and take Tylenol to ease discomfort.

    Many patients need 2-3 treatments for desired results, please schedule a follow-up appointment 4-6 weeks after your first treatment.

    You may experience a temporary numbing of the area. This can last up to 4 weeks.
