What is Rosacea?

  • Rosacea appears as facial redness or “blushing” in the early stages, but can develop into bumps or inflammatory pustules that are often mistaken for acne.

  • Over time the chronic inflammation of the condition causes broken capillaries and tissue changes.

  • Rosacea is sometimes called the “Celtic Curse” because it occurs in people with a Celtic heritage and can be genetic.

  • The exact cause of rosacea is not known and there is no cure for rosacea.

  • It is aggravated by sun exposure, heat, alcohol, hormones and exercise.

  •  It can be managed by lifestyle (moderating triggers), skincare to strengthen the skin, sunscreen, and light therapy treatments.
