Enlarged Pores

What are Enlarged Pores?

  • Pores are small, round openings in the skin that allow for oil (sebum) and sweat to reach the surface of the skin from their respective glands below.

  • They become enlarged and more noticeable when they become clogged with oil (oily skin) and in aged skin.

  • The skin often appears to have the texture of an “orange peel”.

  • Pore size is largely genetic but can be affected by diet, acne, sun exposure and trauma (squeezing and picking blemishes).

  • Treatment for enlarged pores is generally focused on minimizing oil production

  • Restoring elasticity and volume to the skin

  • Ongoing sun protection
